The Magic House understands that going to school for the first time is a big step for children and their parents. To help ease the transition, The Magic House is offering My First School, a nine-week, fun and creative preschool program for 2 1/2- to 3 1/2-year-olds that encourages gradual independence within a nurturing environment. My First School will take place once a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:30 am or 11:00 to 12:00 pm. Classes begin the week of April 6 and continue through the week of May 27.
“We’ve completed our first session of My First School and it was such a success that we are excited to continue this educational program for a wide variety of age groups,” said Beth Fitzgerald, president of The Magic House. “My First School is an exciting program for both parents and their preschoolers who are getting ready to take the first step in their educational journey.”
This program, designed to gradually prepare preschoolers for a classroom setting, begins with six weeks of parent-child classes. During these weeks, the children build relationships with teachers and peers while learning basic school skills. Parents are there to support and encourage their child’s independence in the classroom. The final three weeks, children go to school all by themselves, while grownups attend parenting programs conducted by staff from St. Louis Children's Hospital.
The cost for the program is $88 for members and $120 for non-members.
